About the netherite ingot
Netherite is the top of the gear tree and, on most servers, the unit big trades get quoted in. Ingots upgrade diamond tools and armour into something that survives lava and does not burn when you die holding it. Because the cost to produce one is well known and roughly fixed, netherite tends to hold its value better than anything else traded, which is why people price other deals against it.
What an ingot actually costs to make
Four ancient debris, mined out of the Nether, smelted into four netherite scrap, then combined with four gold ingots. Debris is the bottleneck: it is rare, it does not show up on the surface, and finding it means either strip mining around Y 15 or blowing holes in the Nether with beds. The floor under the ingot price is that mining time, and it is why netherite rarely gets genuinely cheap.
What moves the price
Ingots against blocks
Nine ingots make a block, and blocks are how large amounts get moved. The two do not always work out to the same per-ingot price — when they diverge, buying the form that is mispriced and converting is free money. Check both.
Gold supply
Every ingot needs four gold as well as four scrap. Gold is farmable, so it is rarely the constraint, but a server-wide gold shortage does show up in the netherite price.
What people are upgrading
Demand is lumpy: a full set of armour and a tool kit is around thirty ingots at once. Netherite gets bought in bursts by individuals rather than steadily by everyone, so the first-page listings can be thin right after somebody has kitted out.
The check at the top of this page reads the first five comparable listings live, per item, so a stack and a single compare directly. It is a snapshot of right now rather than an average over time — the full price checker explains how the two numbers are worked out.
Questions
How much is a netherite ingot on DonutSMP?+
The check above reads the first five comparable Auction House listings and reports the average and the lowest, per ingot. Netherite moves less than most items because its production cost is fixed, but it still moves.
Is it cheaper to buy ingots or netherite blocks?+
Usually blocks, but not always, and the gap is worth checking before a large purchase. A block is nine ingots, so divide the block price by nine and compare it against the per-ingot figure here.
How much ancient debris do I need for one ingot?+
Four. Four debris smelt into four scrap, and four scrap plus four gold ingots make one netherite ingot. A full set of armour is twenty-four debris before you have touched tools.
